It’s Just A Movie

Here is one movie you won’t probably miss, in case you couldn’t rush faster to see Kill Bill or Sin City: Grindhouse. If it sounds familiar, it because it has been in the spotlight for a while - especially with the help of the original posters that promote it - and so were its famous and awarded directors: Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, who else?

But what is Grindhouse about? More importantly than that, who plays in it? Some might say that it is quite a mix of different actors: from Rose McGowan to Freddy Rodriguez and from Marley Shelton to Michael Biehn - and to add some spice, the singer Fergie. Grindhouse might be called the perfect (or imperfect) combination of an action movie with a zombie movie, since each of the directors basically made a different movie. Under the somehow clichés “fully loaded” and “terror… and then some more terror”, the movie seems quite dynamic, oddly coagulated and it undoubtedly basis more on the pure, simple, somehow predictable action than on the plot itself.

The characters are not deep, complex characters, full of ideas and emotions - anyway, who would expect that in the purest action movie? On the contrary, they are sketched and resumed to their actions and nothing else. But since we mentioned the plot… the movie mainly presents how a small town gets infected with a virus, a fact which determines the locals to turn into actual zombies. Zombies that need to be eliminated. And this is exactly why the one legged female hero (with a machine gun as the other leg) does.

Are you tempted now? But before you rush to the movie theatre, make sure you take sufficient amounts of popcorn - simply because the movie lasts not less than 191 minutes!
