Delta Farce - Recommended Only if You Are Up for Trite Jokes

deltafarce 1This year, the deliberately goofy-silly comedies seem to come on the conveyor. And Delta Farce is probably the most representative of all. Well, what can we expect from a deliberately parody-like name like Delta Farce? Is it as bad as it sounds? No, actually, it might be worse.

But hey, if you are curious to find out more about the actual plot, here it goes: three friends with sorry little lives enroll as National Guard reserves - no, not out of patriotism, but to simply enjoy a guys’ night out with plenty of beer and some fun shooting sessions. But they are up for a surprise! The army calls them to duty - and now it’s the point when the gags and the silliness pop out. To summarize, the only difference between the real Delta Force guys and the Delta Farce ones is that the latter ones simply fail in their missions.

What can they possibly do so wrong? Well, let’s start from the fact that they are sent to Iraq and manage to end up in Mexico - Sure, Iraq and Mexico are close on the map; this is common mistake, right? And the funny (or sad) thing about it is that it takes quite a while for them to wake up and realize why Iraq is populated by people wearing Mexican hats.

Now you might ask yourself: who plays these losers? Well, we have Larry the Cable Guy (a top nominee at the 2007 Razzies Awards), Bill Engvall and DJ Qualls. What else can be said about the movie? Well, that the jokes are all of one kind, meaning trite jokes. Oh, and that there is such a thing as actually feeling embarrassed for watching silly goofy little comedies.
