It’s Just A Movie

When you see the trailer, the movie poster or the movie itself called Surf’s Up, you might be dealing with a little deja vu. Let’s see if these ring any bells: March of the Penguins? Happy Feet? What do they have in common, especially with today’s debated movie, namely Surf’s Up? Well, a whole bunch of penguins, that’s what! We are not saying that the stumpy black and white animals are not cute, but we might be dealing with frenzy here: three different movies in two years and all of them centered on the South Pole creatures.

But the fact is that Surf’s Up might not actually fit in the shoes of Happy Feet. Why? Well, the newer penguins act too much like humans and preserve too little of their funny non-human behavior. But let’s give the movie a little credit, as well. The acting, or, better said, the voices behind the animated characters do a pretty good job.

Want to hear the story? Well, as they say - and how couldn’t we believe them - it is a true story that presents a little penguin who wants to be a professional surfer. But that happens only after watching a sort of documentary that attests the fact that the funny little creatures actually invented the sport. That is why it is a true story, you see?

OK, so it’s a good movie if you are not tired of penguins yet - for example, if your kids love them, then don’t miss it. After all, a funny, light and little movie like this can turn out to be just what you needed after watching a bunch of horrors and thrillers.
